NOTE: This is the archive of my 2008 campaign for state representative for Texas House District 9. My plans for 2010 will be announced after the current legislative session and any following special sessions.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be the Democratic State Representative Candidate for District 9: Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Jasper, and Nacogdoches Counties. During my lifetime I have lived or worked in all of these counties, and appreciate their unique and shared heritages.

Some of you in Sabine and Jasper Counties might not yet be aware of the threat of Eminent Domain Issues facing your friends in Shelby and Nacogdoches Counties. Most of us that have lived in the Eastern and Southern part of our district of my age might remember families displaced for the Toledo Bend, and Sam Rayburn Projects. At least in these disruptions in our rural heritage, there were some positive benefits that came with them. There is no benefit to East Texas in the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor. With the corridor project, we would lose much of the most rural and most productive farm and ranching land left in these affected counties. This land would be lost to us forever with no benefit to us, displacing families with multiple generation farms, homes, and ranches. On a personal note my father's family is from the Stockman Community which is also lost if this project were to be built. This and other issues will be addressed on the issues part of this website.

I would especially like to thank friends and supporters that have made it possible for this campaign and site to exist. I have spent many hours and personal funds to get started, but I couldn't have gotten this far without your support.
